The GOOD, The BAD & The UGLY

Dermal filler rejuvenation refers to the use of injectable substances, primarily hyaluronic acid or other biocompatible, biodegradable materials to restore volume loss, smooth out wrinkles and enhance facial features.
These non-surgical cosmetic treatments aim to rejuvenate the skin, correct depressions and sunken areas and provide a more youthful appearance by addressing many of the age related changes such as lines and wrinkles, volume loss and sagging.
Dr.Laronn at Laronn Advanced Aesthetics has been using dermal fillers from the time they were first FDA certified and introduced to the US market. She set a high standard due to her expertise and experience, innovative use of multiple products in a masterful placement for most natural, harmonious results. Your comfort and safety are paramount to her.
Dermal fillers consist of many types:
Hyaluronic acid(HA)- The most commonly used type of filler in the US, HA is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps retain moisture volume and provides structural support. Brands like Juvederm, Restylane and Boletero use HA.
HA is easily dissolved by administration of an enzyme treatment, should there be a need to remove it.
Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) is a thicker filler that stimulates collagen production, and therefore lasts longer than plain HA fillers.
Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) - Sculptra is a biodegradable material similar to the dissolvable suture material that stimulates collagen growth and gradual tissue remodeling over six months, with results lasting for 2-5years.
There are other types of synthetic fillers that dr Laronn chooses not to use due to
their higher rate of complications (Silicon and Polymethylmethacrylate)
The GOOD
Dermal fillers have changed dramatically the non-surgical options for rejuvenation due to their immediate results, minimal downtime, customizable treatment and ability to reverse results when they’re not satisfactory.
The dermal fillers can be used in many areas of the face or body. Common treated areas are cheeks, nasal-labial folds, lips, teartrogh, jowls and marionette lines.
For body treatments a variety of areas can be treated such as hands, knees, buttocks, hips.
The BAD
Potential risks & side effects include bruising and swelling, lumps and bumps, infection, allergic reactions and rare but serious vascular complications when the filler is accidentally introduced into a blood vessel leading to damage.
The UGLY
Misuse or overuse of dermal fillers, inappropriate placement, poor judgment and poor selection of material may lead to deformities, asymmetry and loss of aesthetic anatomic proportions with resulting undesirable results.
Lack of appropriate technique and experience may lead to vascular complications that can result in loss of tissue and rarely in blindness.
Conclusion
Dermal filler rejuvenation has become Increasingly popular way to enhance facial aesthetics, offering customizable immediate and natural looking results with relatively low risk and minimal recovery time.
With the progress in better understanding the human facial anatomy and skin aging process, the techniques have significantly advanced and better and more diverse dermal filler materials have become available.
